
John has extensive experience in estate and tax planning, probate, trust administration and assisting small businesses and their owners. He has designed and implemented personalized and sophisticated estate and business plans that provide for the management, protection and transfer of clients’ assets during their lives and upon their deaths. He has assisted them with plans that preserve their assets, minimize taxes, maintain family privacy and harmony and assure that their assets are transferred when and how they desire.
John’s experience includes designing, negotiating and implementing buy-sell agreements for the preservation and transfer of family and other closely-owned businesses and prenuptial agreements for business owners and others with significant assets who are contemplating marriage and want to protect their assets. It includes assisting clients with the creation and operation of the types of entities that are best for the ownership and operation of their various businesses. He has worked with individuals and families to develop estate plans, including various types of trusts, that help them provide for themselves during their lifetime and also for the needs of their children and grandchildren and that reduce estate, gift and income taxes, preserve and grow their estates and protect their estates from creditors and others.
John is a graduate of the Ross School of Business Administration at the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the Michigan Bar Association, including its Taxation, Business and Probate and Estate Planning Sections, and the Oakland County Bar Association. He has given presentations on a variety of estate, business and tax planning issues. John has held various leadership positions in his church and the St. Andrews Society of Detroit.
